Beauty is in the eye of the beholder
The Petricevic project
Hello lovelies, thank you for stopping by today. I wanted to share with all of you one of my recent home renovations projects. “Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder ” This home was a COMPLETE fixer upper (just like something you would see on the hit TV show “Fixer Upper” on HGTV). This property was a non owner occupied bank owned property in a desirable neighborhood. I had the privilege of viewing the property with the homeowners before they decided to purchase the home. This home was priced under market value and was in distressed state. My clients immediately noticed the damaged walls, horrific wall colors, unattractive fixtures, flooring and etc. What I find most challenging when looking at fixer uppers is that most clients cannot see past what is in front of them. My job is to have them see what my vision for their space “will” eventually be. After explaining my vision for this home they agreed that there was great potential to transform this home into a jewel and bought the property.
I tied all the spaces together by picking out beautiful wall colors and by using neutral undertones and classic timeless pieces. The #1 question I get asked the most is “What wall color do you use El?” My absolute favorite neutral color (You’ll notice I use it quite often in all of my projects) Revere Pewter by Benjamin Moore. It is a beautiful neutral perfect for any space. I also love using Coventry Gray by Benjamin Moore, it has blue/gray undertone. The best part is you never have to worry if your furniture will clash with your walls, or if your pillows will match because it goes perfectly with everything. In the space I love using pretty accessories like area rugs, draperies and accent pillows to give a pop of color and more dimension. Plus it’s easy to change out with the seasons.
Over the years I have learnt that you can still have a very high end look without breaking your bank account. The key is knowing where to shop for it! That’s why I am obsessed with stores like Homegoods, World Market and online stores like Wayfair and Overstock. They all carry great quality products for a fraction of the price and you wouldn’t even know the difference. For instance in the picture above the dining room furniture is from World Market, Linen Lydia Dining Chairs and Rustic Greyson Dining Table . The picture below is the Cooper Round Dining Table and Arcadia Side Chairs . This is a great find for a budget friendly makeover. DIY projects are another way to save a lot of money. Please visit some of my other blog posts, I will show you how to build an office space using Carrara Marble as the desk top for an unbelievable price. I think it turned out beautiful! Thanks to my handyman husband! Even if you don’t have a handyman husband you can still do it yourself.
I hope you find my tips useful. Please follow along as I continue to share other spaces that I’ve created with all of you. Enjoy your day lovelies!
